- Learn valuable self defense skills
Young Adult students (Ages 7-12 years old) receive physical training and self-defense instruction appropriate for their age. For your younger children, they will have the opportunity to participate with the Little Ninjas, a program designed especially for ages 4 to 6 years old. This program emphasizes respect, discipline, fitness self-control and concentration. From the "Yes, Sir/Yes, Ma'am" to the bow of respect, the children are very attentive to their instructor (at this very influential stage of their lives), all while having fun and earning awards. As a part of their classroom activities, children are awarded recognition and public praise for their accomplishments.
Dear Parents,
Thought I'ld take a minute to say thanks for all that AKKA has given to my family. Five years ago I brought in a set of 5 year old twins, a little boy who wanted to be there and a little girl who didn't. A bitter sweet beginning watching one child embrace the experience while the other, so painfully shy, not able to muster the courage to even enter the DoJo. But as you know within a year she not only was a willing participant, but entered her first of many tournaments and without hesitation now gets up in front of crowds when Cheerleading, Dancing or giving oral presentations at school. Today I have what we we refer to at my house as "The BlackBelt Twins", and these kids are so proud of themselves for their accomplishment. Their confidence is immeasurable. For that reason alone I can't thank you enough for keeping your promise to give them that gift. What I didn't expect when I brought them to you was how my own confidence would grow. Confident that my kids are on the right path to becoming smart, dedicated, respectful individuals equiped with tools that will serve them for a lifetime and an understanding that with hard work anything is possible. We are nearing a point where they don't remember the time "before karate", a point where the Martial Arts becomes a permanent part of who they are and what they do, and my confidence is high that we will reach that milestone and Martial Artists they will be. I look forward to watching them develop and just can't believe how far they have already come. Thanks again to AKKA and their staff for all that you do.

There is a new concern many parents face as public schools continue to downsize and even eliminate physical education programs. Think of your child's class as an opportunity to have a personal fitness trainer who shares the success skills of maintaining a healthy body. You will see your child's strength, endurance, and flexibility improve to a level well above acceptable fitness levels. Many of our children have gone onto become great athletes in other sports as well, thanks to their involvement in our program. We have even had some go back to competitive sports, after having improved their physical condition and agility by training in AKKA's unique program. More importantly though, your child will learn how to keep their body healthy for a lifetime. At AKKA you are assured of the best advantages for YOU and YOUR CHILD!
The AKKA staff has shared many success stories over the years. These are just a few of them.

- Watching a shy four-year-old become an excited, out-going student
- Seeing a young boy diagnosed with A.D.D. improve his grades and social skills in school after only short time in class
- Hearing about the positive, behavioral changes at home of a child who came to us with discipline issues
- A young girl who was always a good student, but lacked the skills necessary to be socially accepted because she didn't fit in with the traditional competitive-based programs
- A young boy who for the first time was able to non-violently stop a school yard bully from bothering him
- A ten-year-old whose self confidence has improved through the positive, self-paced program we offer.
- A teen student who has achieved a solid physical and mental foundation, empowering him resist negative influences and to continue on the road to success in his life
Dear Moms and Dads,
My name is Sean Stone and I am 8 years old. I take American Kempo Karate in Hanson. I am learning how to defend myself. I am also learning how to respect others. I've made a lot of new friends. I think karate is a fun way to exercise. I would say to anyone wanting to do karate, they should go to AKKA and give it a try.
I LOVE IT!
Dear Parents,
I started karate over two years ago. I was 8 years old. There are some new kids there. I want to be an instructor when I grow up. I want to be a leader when I grow up and teach others karate.; People can run on the bags. Some people need help. My instructors can do it and some kids can do it. On the masters team we can spar and we have instructors training. The first day I was there I was very scared and nervous. I was wondering how many people were there at first. I was excited and very scared at first. I did not know any people there when I was at the karate studio. It was very big then when I got inside but today it seems very small. I look forward to going to karate every day. I am really proud that I do karate and happy to do it. I feel very confident now and no longer shy, I am no longer afraid to be there alone with out my Grandma and Papa, I feel safe there and have met a lot of nice kids and made many new friends and learned a lot from my instructors. My favorite is to go to the tournaments. I get better every day but still have a lot to learn. Kids get so scared when its their first time at karate. You can go to other karate studio's. Different AKKA karate studios you can do so many different things with another instructor. Doing karate is excellent to do because you can get fit and have and excellent time and earn your colored stripes if you pass the test and new belts after you collected three colored stripes. You don't always pass the test each month, one time I did not pass so I had to try harder next month, I was happy when I passed the test. Karate is the best thing I have done!

AKKA StudentDear Parents, There is no words that can express how much my grandson has grown since he started taking karate lessons in 2006. It has become a big part of his life and he looks forward to going to karate classes every week. He has formed some nice friendships with others who take karate and there is one person who he looks up too and can't wait to see him when he arrives at the karate studio, this person has no idea on how he has impacted his life, all I see when they make eye contact is a big smile on his face as he is walking towards this boy. The instructors give him all the confidence that he needs. It's hard to believe that this child started as a white belt and today he is and advance brown belt working towards his Jr. Black belt, and is also and assistance instructor, WOW. Some times I think it's gone to his head. Yes karate can cost a lot of money, but it is worth every penny that we have spent, NO REGRETES . He is no longer our shy, fearful, shadow scared kid anymore, he can focus, concentrate on the task in front of him, he's learned that he does have a voice and people do care. He can protect himself if the need every arises. He wants to be and instructor someday just like Brian and teach others to learn karate. We tell him that he can do anything if he sets his mind to it. Thank you all at AKKA for every thing you have done to help our grandson grow into the person he is today.

Dear Parents,My children and I signed up for AKKA martial arts training about 4 years ago. My children were younger and I was feeling pretty old. I was looking for an activity for my son but my two daughters also wanted to give it a try. Not wanting to be left out, and because of the family program offered, I also signed myself up for the training. As a result of the training, my children seem to have a big advantage with their fitness over other kids in their class. They run faster, are stronger, and have more endurance than other kids. They also know what to do in case anyone tries to mess with them. They have a lot of confidence and are proud of their accomplishments. As for me, I am in better shape than I have ever been. I am now feeling 48 years young and look forward to obtaining my black belt at the end of this year. Sure, there has been plenty of hard work involved, but as the saying goes, no pain, no gain. I totally recommend AKKA to other families looking to have a group activity that is healthy, inexpensive (compared to other activities that I pay for) and interesting. My kids have learned a lot of great values during their training including discipline and dedication. I am sure that these characteristics will serve them well for the rest of their lives. One other great thing is that it only takes about two hours a week time investment to achieve great benefits. Overall, AKKA provides a great return for a little bit of effort and gives everyone something to look forward to during the week.

Dear Parents,
Five years ago my parents signed me up for a beginner class at American Kempo Karate Academy. From that moment on, I was hooked. I can honestly say that this was one of the best things they could have ever done for me. Ive grown so much since then and I have my instructors to thank for this. Ive made so many great friends and cannot begin to list all of the many amazing opportunities that have been available to me. I cant imagine my life without Karate- its changed me for the better in so many ways. Ive gained so much self confidence over the past few years; now I cant remember a time when I was too timid to even introduce myself to someone. Im stronger not only physically but mentally. I now have the discipline to not only finish what I start but to challenge myself when faced with difficulty. As an instructor, I have the privilege of working with amazing children and seeing the transformation that once took place in me change their lives as well. In my mind, there8 0s no place as friendly, knowledgeable, credible, and devoted as AKKA. I cant think of a better place to exceed personal goals and grow as a person. AKKA has changed me for the better and for this I am forever grateful. I would not be where I am today if it wasnt for the dedicated instructors that make this organization such a wonderful place to be.
